The Alfred Display App is a display app. Most personalized information stays on your device. Some information is transmitted only when you choose to use an Alfred AI feature, as explained below.
Personal Information
Alfred allows you to personalize its displays with information such as your location, selected calendars, preferred sports teams, astrological sign, display settings, schedules, and guest artwork.
Most settings and personalized information are stored locally on your device. They are not synchronized between devices, so each device can be configured independently.
There is one important exception: when you choose to use an Alfred AI feature, some of this information may be transmitted temporarily to generate the requested response, as described below.
Alfred AI
Alfred AI is an optional, artificial-intelligence-enabled portion of the Alfred Display App. An Alfred AI request occurs only when you select an Alfred AI feature, follow an Alfred AI link, or configure a schedule that opens an Alfred AI feature.
To generate a response, Alfred may transmit information through our server to a third-party artificial intelligence provider. Depending on the feature and your settings, this information may include:
- Your city, precise geographic coordinates, time zone, and weather location;
- Selected sports teams and astrological sign;
- Calendar status and selected calendar information;
- Calendar event titles, dates, times, locations, and calendar names; and
- Other information necessary to personalize the requested response.
Our server processes this information only to fulfill the immediate request. We do not save request contents, calendar information, location information, prompts, or generated responses on our server.
Third-party artificial intelligence providers process the information under their own privacy and retention policies. We do not control those providers’ independent retention practices. Because we cannot guarantee that every downstream provider immediately deletes the information, our App Store disclosures conservatively identify this information as collected.
Information submitted to Alfred AI is used for app functionality and product personalization. It is not used by us to track you, advertise to you, or build an advertising profile.
You can avoid transmitting information to an artificial intelligence provider by not using Alfred AI features. Where available, Alfred AI can also be disabled in the app’s settings.
Location and Calendar Permissions
Location access is optional and is used to provide local weather and personalized Alfred AI results. Calendar access is optional and is used to display selected calendars and, when you invoke applicable Alfred AI features, provide relevant calendar context for the requested response.
You can revoke Location or Calendar access at any time in the iOS Settings app. Revoking access may prevent the corresponding Alfred features from working, but it will not prevent you from using unrelated portions of the app.
Purchases and Subscriptions
Alfred uses RevenueCat to manage purchases, subscription status, and restoration of purchases. RevenueCat may process an anonymous customer identifier, purchase history, subscription status, device information, and diagnostic information necessary to provide these services. RevenueCat handles this information according to its own privacy policy.
Payment card information is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
Analytics and Tracking
The Alfred Display App does not use your location, calendar content, personalization information, or Alfred AI requests for advertising tracking. The app does not sell personal information.
Our public website may use standard web analytics to understand website traffic and performance. Website analytics are separate from personalized information stored in or transmitted by the Alfred Display App.
The Alfred Display App does not display third-party advertisements or share app data with advertising publishers for targeted advertising.
Data Retention and Deletion
Settings, schedules, selected calendar identifiers, and guest artwork stored locally remain on your device until you change or remove them, clear the app’s data, or uninstall the app.
Our server does not retain the contents of Alfred AI requests or responses. Third-party service providers, including artificial intelligence and subscription-management providers, may retain information according to their own policies.
You can remove locally stored Alfred data by deleting the app. You can also revoke Location, Calendar, or Apple Music permission through the iOS Settings app. For privacy questions or requests concerning information processed on our behalf, contact us through the Alfred Support page.
Data + Security Disclaimer
Reasonable measures are taken to handle transmitted data securely, including the use of HTTPS. You remain responsible for the security of your device and account credentials.
Marketing
If you provide your email address through our website or subscribe to marketing communications, you may receive email or other marketing messages from us. You can opt out using the unsubscribe instructions included with those communications.
