Alfred turns an iPhone or iPad into a beautiful, always-on display for art, calendars, clocks, live webcams, personalized briefings, and more.
Download Alfred: View the Alfred Display App in the App Store.
Open Alfred and leave your device in portrait or landscape orientation. Alfred keeps the screen awake while the app is active, making it suitable for a desk, kitchen counter, nightstand, or wall display.
Alfred opens the default view selected in Settings, unless the current schedule directs it to another screen.
The Display section is Alfred’s visual home. Choose from:
When a view supports it, selecting the same display again refreshes or advances its content.
Alfred reads calendars already available on your device and can show four views: Today, Tomorrow, This Week, and This Month.
The first time you open Calendar or Settings, iOS may ask for calendar access. Allow access if you want Alfred to display your events. To change permission later, open the Apple Settings app, find Alfred, and adjust Calendar access.
In Alfred’s Settings, use Displayed Calendars to choose which device calendars appear. You do not need to create public calendar links or share a calendar publicly.
Webcam presents live views from locations around the world. Open the top menu to choose a camera or request a random one.
Public webcams are operated by third parties and may occasionally be unavailable. Alfred may substitute another camera when a scheduled or selected feed is offline or no longer offered.
Choose among the Display Clock, Analog Clock, and Digital Clock. Each clock can follow the device appearance or use a light or dark theme selected in Settings.
Settings are stored on the device. This lets each Alfred display have its own schedule, calendars, appearance, location, and preferences.
The schedule automatically switches Alfred to selected screens throughout the day. Alfred checks the schedule when the app opens and continues checking while it runs.
You can edit an existing entry’s time or destination directly. Use the trash button to remove an entry, or choose Restore Default Schedule to start over. Entries are displayed in time order, and changes apply automatically.
Schedule destinations include calendar views, displays, webcams, clocks, and Alfred AI briefings. Available choices depend on your subscription.
Choose the default Display, Calendar, and Clock views. You can also set individual screens to Light, Dark, or Automatic appearance. Automatic follows the device’s current appearance.
Alfred AI creates optional, on-demand briefings using the information relevant to each request. Depending on the briefing, that may include your selected location, calendar events, sports teams, time zone, and astrological sign.
Open the Alfred AI panel from a supported display, then choose an app. Alfred AI requires an internet connection and an eligible subscription. You can also place Alfred AI destinations in Alfred’s Schedule.
You control Alfred AI personalization through Settings. If you prefer not to use Alfred AI, turn it off under Theme Options; Alfred’s display, calendar, webcam, and clock features remain available according to your plan.
Guest Mode replaces the normal schedule with a single guest display. Enable it in Settings when you want a simplified welcome screen. You may add a guest name, a short message, and an optional photo; when a photo is attached, it replaces the rotating artwork. Turn Guest Mode off to return to Alfred’s normal schedule and navigation.
Jukebox provides music controls through Apple Music. When music is playing, use the speaker button for quick access. Availability may depend on your device, Apple Music access, and Alfred subscription.
Alfred includes free features, with additional displays, styles, scheduling choices, Alfred AI, and other features available through paid plans. Current prices, billing periods, trial offers, and included features are shown in the App Store purchase screen before you subscribe.
Purchases are billed through your Apple Account. You can manage or cancel a subscription in the Apple Settings app under your Apple Account’s Subscriptions section. If you previously subscribed, use the restore-purchases option on Alfred’s purchase screen.
For help, open Settings and choose Support. Your Customer ID appears near the bottom of Settings and can help support locate your subscription. Do not post that ID publicly.
